THOMAS A. KNOTT (TOMMY) Tom passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 2, 2018, at Luther Nursing Home at the age of 91. Predeceased by his parents Christina and Wilfred Knott; his sisters Viola and Muriel; his brother Conrad; and his youngest, beloved daughter Melody. Tom is survived by his loving wife Illa of 64 years; sons Blaine (Karen), Bradley (Annette), Randy, Marlin and Darrin (Leslie); daughters Shelley, Darlene (Curtis) and Bonny; sisters Beryl, Fern, Marcella (Doc), Sandy and Patti; brother Bud and sister-in-law Emily; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom retired in 1992 from Auto Haulaway. Tom spent his summers golfing at Transcona Country Club where he got three hole in one's. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and bowling. His true passion was playing the fiddle. He made recordings with the Why Knott band and Wood Knott band. Tom also played with Up The Creek, a blue grass band and many friends. Tom tutored several students who loved old time music and wanted to learn to play fiddle. Some went on to have successful careers, such as Sierra Noble and Oliver Boulette. The family thanks the nurses and staff of Luther Nursing Home for their kind care and compassion given to Tom and his family. A celebration of life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Saturday, October 13, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society in Tom's memory.
