Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) RICHARD ALEXANDER It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of John "Jack" Richard Alexander on October 5, 2018, at the age of 69 years. Jack leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 45 years, Patricia; and their children, Melissa (Brian), James and Ian. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Jack will also be remembered with fondness by his aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Shirley. Jack was born on August 21, 1949 in Winnipeg, where he lived his whole life. He spent the bulk of his adult life working for RockTenn and representing those he worked within the local union. Family was a central part of Jack's life and he was always there to offer any help that was needed, and his many talents never ceased to amaze. He enjoyed sports, especially catching a Bomber, Jets or Blue Jays game, crossword puzzles and playing cribbage. Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and we wish to acknowledge the care and kindness of the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice can be made.

Jack was an outstanding trade unionist activist, he represented him members with distinction and forged many friendships within the broader labour movement. He put the interests of the members front and centre and his efforts contributed to our shared goal of building a better world. My sincere condolences to the entire family. We are devastated by the loss of our brother, brother in law, uncle and great uncle. Jackie was my wonderful handsome big brother. I am fortunate to have so many wonderful memories of growing up together with him in our crowded happy home on Magnus. Ave. Jack was an outstanding athlete in many sports and I was his biggest fan. I watched hours and hours of baseball, football, basketball, hockey and lacrosse games. He was so talented and I was so proud to be his sister. He was Pat and my biggest proctector, nobody messed with us or they would have to deal with Big Al. I have so many happy memories that I can hold close to me for comfort in the coming years. You will be missed my dear brother by Pierre and I, your nieces and their husbands, Cindy & Jamie, Trisha and Jim and Tara. Your great nieces and great nephews Jordan, Jenna and Lauren, Ethan and Jake, and Alexis and Scarlett. May you Rest In Peace with Mom and Dad. We will love you always. - Posted by: Karen (Alexander) Bartlette (Sister) on: Oct 10, 2018

I met Jacky when we were 13. Three girls (Linda, Darlene & Marilyn) met 3 boys (Jacky, Ted & Greg) on the baseball diamond back of Lord Nelson school. Thus began a long Jr. high and high school friendship, that will remain in my memory and heart forever. History, Jacky - we shared history! We six, all became our own best friends, and added others to our group holding the most innocent of Friday & Saturday night get-togethers mostly in my basement (Redwood Ave.) and sometimes in Darlene’s rec room (Alfred Ave). All we needed were good 45’s, some lp’s, a record player and some snacks. We attended Grade 9 Grad together, walking down Redwood over to Sisler, in a pack. Grade 12 graduation sent us all to the four winds. By chance, about 20 years ago, I met up with Jacky one more time, in the parking lot of the grocery store up north on Arlington, near Inkster. A nice reunion. To the extended family of Jacky Alexander, as I knew him so long ago, I send my utmost heartfelt feelings on your loss. Let your memories carry him with you always. I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Through the years he represented the members of his union, he always took a principled position on their behalf. Through the many hours of meetings and conventions we attended together, I enjoyed his sense of humor and his willingness to share his experiences, in order to have the debates result in a solid, reasonable policy on behalf of all workers. He will be missed. Please convey my condolences to his family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Susan Hart-Kulbaba (union friend) on: Oct 10, 2018
