MARGITA TOBOLKOVA May 21, 1943 - November 8, 2018 Margita Tobolkova, age 75, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on November 8, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents and her younger sister and brother. She is survived by her aunt as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews in Slovakia, Toronto and Winnipeg. Born in Bratislava, Slovakia, Margita completed her education in Slovakia with an engineering degree in Geophysics. She immigrated to Canada in August of 1968, attending university in London, Ontario. She lived and worked in Toronto where she was employed with IBM. In late 1990 she moved to Winnipeg. She also lived in Louisiana for a short time, where she met her husband. She then returned to Winnipeg where she worked for CBC as a freelance broadcaster. She also volunteered at the ILRC and regularly contributed in their OPTIONS newsletter. Margita's interest were numerous; she loved classical music, opera, photography and playing the piano as well as travelling in the United States and Europe. She cherished her dogs: Ela, Holly and a cat Mimi. Margita was well liked and loved by her family, friends and neighbours. In keeping with Margita's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. She will be missed. May she rest in peace. Gitka was my school fellow at a secondary grammar school in Bratislava. She was very kind and very friendly. During last years we were in contact by e-mail. We exchanged information on our families and on our work as editors. I am very sorry, that Gitka has passed away so soon. Please accept my sincere condolences.
