FLORENCE SIMARD (nee CHARTIER) October 11, 1935 - November 24, 2018 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 83. Fondly and lovingly remembered by her eight children: Paul (Debbie), Lynn Boychuk (Wayne), Guy (Mary), Mae Bukowski (Richard), Luke, Mark (Gabriel), Mona and Lawrence Jr. (Doreen), her greatest joy in life were her 14 grandchildren: Paul Jr., Vernon, Reuben, Titus, Brent, Farrah, Christy, Kylie, Brett, Matteo, Devin, Dylan, Corey and Ryan, and her precious eight great-grandchildren, her sister Doris Neufeld (John), her brother Marcel, and numerous friends and relatives. Mom was predeceased by Dad (Larry) in January 2009, her parents, Octave and Alice Chartier, and also grandson David. Mom was an extraordinary woman, with a bulging heart for her family. Her most cherished times were when her children and their families were all together, talking, laughing and enjoying each other. Mom was always busy, loving to shop, reading, playing the game of 31, bingo, and watching her two favourite soaps. She was known as the best bread maker of all times! She loved camping with Dad and family throughout her retirement age. Our mom survived numerous health challenges in her senior years, managing to beat breast and colon cancer. She made many trips to the West Coast visiting her children and eventually moved to Calgary to be with her eldest daughter and family for five years. For her 50th wedding anniversary she enjoyed a trip to Mexico with Dad. She moved to Steinbach, MB to be close to her other children and resided with her youngest daughter Mona until her passing. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Saviour Parish, 365 Loewen Blvd., with viewing and eulogy beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Green Acres. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • When I was around 10 yrs. old, Florence came to live with our family in La Broquerie so that she could attend the school in our town as she lived in Marchand and it was too far for her to travel. She probably didn't have any means of getting to school. I enjoyed her living with us as she was like my older sister. I was 8 yrs. younger then her. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Dorothée (Savard) Touzin (Larry's distant cousin) on: Nov 27, 2018

  • Florence was a Beautiful lady. My sympathies to all the Family. - Posted by: Helen Andreychuk (Friend) on: Nov 27, 2018
