Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANITA THEDA NINOSCHKA MAGNUS January 24, 1952 - November 20, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Anita Magnus on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from ALS at Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, MB. Anita was born in Munich, Germany in 1952 and moved to Winnipeg with her parents in 1954. She is survived by her sisters, Suzy (Curtis) and Jackie (Alan), sisters-in-law, Susie and Sheldon, several nieces, a nephew and many close friends. Anita was predeceased by her mother Litta, father Dudley, brothers, George and Tim. Anita was a unique, compassionate, kind person who loved volunteering, travelling, art and music. Her travels took her to many places, her favourite being Paris which she visited three times. She was very loyal and treasured her close friends and family and had a real knack for remembering everyone's birthdays and anniversaries and took great care in choosing and sending meaningful cards. Anita worked at the Free Press for over 40 years where she made some lifelong friendships which were very important to her. She was quite a foodie, enjoying good food, red wine, and sweets of many kinds. She will be fondly remembered for her great sense of humour and quick wit. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honour may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A - 1717 Dublin Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3H 0H2. At Anita's request, an informal Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Silver Heights Restaurant, 2169 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. A heartfelt thanks to Diana and staff at the ALS Society of Manitoba for all their support and the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for the compassionate care given over the last seven months. I met Anita when I worked in the Winnipeg Free Press newsroom in the 70s and 80s. On many occasions she demonstrated kind and enlightened qualities that I cherished and have never forgotten. She and I reconnected in the last few years and our friendship grew to the point where Anita meant so very much to me. Her kindness and enlightenment continued to impress me to the end. - Posted by: Gloria Moodrey (co-worker and friend) on: Dec 05, 2018
