EDGAR ELLIS SEXTON 1936 - 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edgar Ellis Sexton of Pinawa on November 25, 2018 at Pinawa Hospital. Edgar is survived by his loving wife Rosemary, daughter Suzanne, sister Agnes Anderson, brother Francis Sexton, and many cherished nieces, nephews and family. He was predeceased by his daughter Barbara, brothers, Raymond and Vincent Sexton, and sister Uldene Cunningham. Edgar was born to George and Wilhemina Sexton at Grande Prairie Hospital on June 14, 1936. The youngest of six children raised on a pioneer homestead without electricity, Edgar's curiosity and thirst for knowledge would end up taking him far from home. His analytical talents were recognized and encouraged by his stepfather James Murray. Edgar left Beaverlodge to work in Port Alberni and Tuktoyaktuk and attend college in Calgary. Atomic Energy of Canada came looking for adventurous minds to join them in Ontario. With some lifelong friends, he packed up and was off to Chalk River. In Chalk River, he met his future bride. They were married in 1963 and moved west again in 1965 to continue his career with AECL settling in the new community of Pinawa, Manitoba. A family followed soon and he kept busy until retirement in 1994. Retirement saw Edgar off again, this time to live the snowbird dream in Texas. The sunshine and new friends were sorely missed when travel was no longer possible. Edgar enjoyed creating with his photography, wood turning and carpentry hobbies. He enjoyed the natural beauty of Pinawa and was an avid fisherman and gardener. A special thank you to Dr. Michel Bruneau and the staff of the Pinawa Cancer Care Program and Pinawa Hospital. Your hard work, dedication and compassion are things we are very grateful for. An extra special thank you to Helena and George Montgomery and Emily and Scotty Wooster for years of friendship and your daily support and help through Edgar's last days. As per Edgar's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in Edgar's memory.
