DONALD ANGUS MCCRACKEN May 31, 1954 - December 21, 2018 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and brother, Donald Angus McCracken on Friday, December 21, 2018. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Pamela McCracken, daughters: Allison (Ryan) and Christine (Josh); stepdaughter Tiffani (Collin); stepsons: Kelsey and Owen (Danica); grandchildren: Alexandra, Kaydence, Briella and Emery; sister Marilyn Reycraft of Glencoe, Ontario; and his niece Debbie Sousa (Joe) of London, Ontario. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Angus (Nelson) and Evelyn May (Helen) McCracken. Don was born in London, and raised in Glencoe, Ontario, and later moved to Winnipeg in 1983. He worked as head custodian at Woodlawn School in Steinbach where he made many friends with both staff and students. His love for children was very apparent when he always made them laugh and feel special. Each child that crossed his path had a special place in his heart. He married Pam in August 2017 and they purchased a little parcel of property in Roseau River, Manitoba which they called their little piece of paradise. Many happy memories were made there by both of them and friends and family alike. Don was a happy soul and always looked on the bright side of everything, if you were sad, he made you smile, if you were crying, he made you laugh. Don loved to go camping with the highlight being the campfire each evening and playing AC/DC on the CD player. He enjoyed working outside and doing renovations. He never could sit still, always had a project on the go. Don was a type 1 diabetic which he managed quite well until he became very ill November 30, 2017, suffering a heart attack and a double stroke. Due to the severity of his illness and all of the complications that came along with this, he lost his battle peacefully early in the morning Friday, December 21, 2018. The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre, MICU and GH4 units for their loving care of Don. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 PTH 52 W, Steinbach, MB, with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association. Until we meet again you will always be my sunshine.
