Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRIEDRICH (FRITZ OR FRED) LITSCHKE March 5, 1926 - December 31, 2018 Peacefully on December 31, 2018, just before midnight, Fritz passed away at St. Boniface Hospital in the Cardiac Care Unit, at the age of 92. Fritz was born to Heinrich and Adele Litschke in Zhytkavichy in what was then known as White Russia, now Belarus. In 1946 he moved to Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Germany) where he met his wife Sophie. They married in 1951. In 1957, with their two children: Jutta and Henry, they immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg where they made their home. Fritz first worked at Versatile and in 1967 changed careers to become a successful drywaller. He built the family cottage at Spruce Sands (1975) and their house in Winnipeg (1984). Fritz also helped his family and friends with their homes. His son Henry became a drywaller as well and they worked together for many years, gaining respect in the construction field in Winnipeg. Fritz finally retired at age 80. Fritz and Sophie loved to dance and party. Fritz was very social and always a charmer. He had a great sense of humour and was well liked. Fritz and Sophie happily became Oma and Opa when their granddaughter Brianne was born. They remained Oma and Opa when their great-grandboys, Declan and Nash were born. Fritz dearly loved 'Opa's boys' and they loved him in return. Fritz was predeceased by parents, Heinrich (1939) and Adele (1973); his son Henry (2009), and wife Sophie (2013). Left to mourn and miss him are his daughter Jutta (Brian), granddaughter Brianne (David), great-grandsons, Declan and Nash, nieces, Annemarie and Margot (Fritz), friend Michael, and numerous friends and relatives in Canada, Germany and Russia. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time this year.

Fritz did the drywall in my house back in 1987. I knew him as a member of the Lutheran Church and met him at many family functions. I knew him as a man of integrity and honesty. He was also a man that was truly grateful. My condolences to the Litschke family. - Posted by: Gordon Seier (Friend ) on: Jan 11, 2019
