EDWARD FUNK Edward Henry (Edd) Funk, aged 74, passed away after a short, but fierce battle with cancer on January 23, 2019. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary; children, James (Susan) and their children, Colin and Ella; and Laura (Gilbert Detillieux); extended family and many friends. Edd threw himself wholeheartedly into all he undertook, whether in playing or coaching baseball or hockey, clearing snow for the whole neighbourhood, making an ice rink at the church for neighbourhood children or making wooden toys by the dozens. Memorial service is on January 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Douglas Mennonite Church, 1517 Rothesay Street in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in his memory can be made to Jubilee Mennonite Church for the Shed Fund. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Sorry to have missed the funeral due to the severe cold. Wish you God's peace and rest as you are without him, Mary. We had quite a visit with him at Victor's wife’s funeral. We are grateful for that. Blessings to you and your family. Elva and Norman Blatz - Posted by: Elva and Norman Blatz (Cousin) on: Jan 31, 2019

  • Because I had the same type of mischievous bent as Edd, I appreciated his comments to me whenever we met. But he especially endeared himself to me when I had to take on the position of treasurer in our church and he "rode" to my rescue with help, advice, and lots of encouragement! He was a real "mensch"! - Posted by: Al Bryski (Friend) on: Jan 29, 2019

  • Our family would like to offer our sympathies, thoughts and prayers your way - Aunt Mary, James, Laura and your families. We enjoyed his calls and visits. He was a social butterfly- the more people meant more visiting and sharing. He shared so much of himself (talking and listening) and his time and his talents and skills (woodworking and fire-making!). I had the wonderful privilege of texting him and receiving "love you kid" and I talked to him on Wed. Jan. 16. Our family was blessed to have him in our lives. I'm sorry I can't be there in body but I will be there in prayer and thought. Our love to the Funk Family. - Posted by: Diane + Lowell Dennis, Sara + Paul (Niece) on: Jan 26, 2019
