Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCORNELIUS (CONN) ENNS On Sunday, January 27, 2019 Cornelius Enns (Conn) passed away peacefully, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by loved ones and the kind care of the Health Sciences Centre. Born on October 4, 1936 to Katherina and Wilhelm Enns, Conn grew up in Springstein, Manitoba, the youngest of five siblings. Conn chose to farm with Wilhelm who was also leader of the Springstein Mennonite Church. He eventually purchased the farmstead and continued to provide a home for his parents. He said it was the happiest time of his life and wished that it would always be that way. After Wilhelm passed, Conn took care of Katherina, a loving son, a well-loved younger brother and uncle. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and had a wonderful voice. Some of his passions were classical music, especially oratorios, German and Russian history, religious texts and biographies. Conn was always up for a lively political discussion. He kept a large garden and gladly shared the produce with his urban relatives. After 72 years of life in Springstein, Conn spent the last 10 years at Bethel Place where he felt fortunate to live next to his siblings and in-laws. He enjoyed the warm environment, the wonderful staff, lunches with the residents and Sunday services. Conn also enjoyed meals at the nearby Salisbury House and his absence will be felt by the staff there. With his passing, Conn was welcomed by his parents, his brothers, Herman and Bill, and his sister Elizabeth who passed before him. He will be deeply missed by his sister Anna, as well as sisters-in-law, Elsie and Estelle Enns, and brother-in-law Edward Enns. Thank-you to Elsie and niece Michelle for their frequent kindnesses in helping Conn during the past few years; Ruth and Dave for continued hospitality at the Springstein farmstead; and Lois and Reuben for country excursions. Funeral service to be held at Friends Funeral Service on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. An interment will follow at Springstein Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Manitoba, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3, 204-889-8525 or Canadian Foodgrains Bank, 400-393 Portage Ave. #400, Winnipeg, MB R3B 3H6.
