DAVID WALLMAN David Wallman passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 31, 2019. Dad was born on May 21, 1928 to Jacob and Helen Wallman. He grew up on the family farm near Brunkild, MB. In 1955 he married Mary Rempel. They raised their four children, first in Fort Rouge and then Charleswood. Dad had a long, distinguished career at Otis Elevator. In 2008 they moved to Riverbend Plaza, where they met many new friends. Dad knew each tenant by name and was involved in their coffee and birthday parties. He lived a long, healthy life until April 2017. After a fall and three months in hospital, he moved to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, where his health slowly deteriorated. Dave was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary, in 2013. He was also predeceased by his parents, siblings, Jake, Walter and Henrietta, and stepgranddaughter Christie. He is survived by his children, Kurt, Carleen Cooke (Doug), Eric (Brenda) and Carrie Rose (Michael), granddaughter Kayla, stepgrandsons, Nathan and Noah. He is also survived by his sister Helen (Peter) Warkentin, and many extended family members. He will be remembered for his strong faith, his willingness to help others, his uncanny knack of finding a good deal at a garage sale, his ability to fix or build almost anything, but most of all by his mischievous sense of humour. Rest in peace, Dad. We are very grateful to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for their excellent and compassionate care of Dad. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg. Viewing prior to the service. Interment at LaSalle Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. N., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Kurt, Carleen, Eric and Carrie: we are very sorry for your loss. Our parents were close friends for many, many decades. Our grandparents were friends for years before that. I cherish the time that our families spent together over the years , your Dad was one of the funniest men I that have ever had the privilege to spend time with. He had the innate ability to bring out my devilish side. My Mom and Dad cherished their Wednesday lunches together and their monthly “card” night.......Larry wanted me to tell you that he was certain that our Mom was there to greet your Dad.....
