Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELAINE HAMMERLING (nee SITARZ) December 8, 1931 - February 5, 2019 It is with great sadness our family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Hammerling on February 5, at the age of 87 years. Mary was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1992; parents, Anthony and Maria Sitarz; brothers, Casmir, Walter, John, Edward, and Charles; and sisters, Kay and Frances. Left to cherish her memory she will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl (Ryan), Debbie (Calvin), Karen (John), and Mark (Elfriede); grandchildren, Nicole, Tassie (Scott), Sascha (Dwayne), Magdalen, Amanda (Danny), Matthew, Peter, Aaron, Melanie, Amelia, Tobias, Jimmy, Ashley, Caleb, Anthony and Chloe; and great-grandchildren, Rylan, Dwanasha, Harrison, Hunter and Georgia. Mary is survived by sister Anne (Mike) Lucko; brothers, Tony (Pat) Sitarz, Joe (Beverley) Sitarz, Sr. Mary Rose Hammerling, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother with her passion for caring for home and family. Being part of a large loving family was part of Mary's legacy. She adored and derived great joy from her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to celebrate special occasions, cook wonderful dinners, and enjoyed our traditional family gatherings. Mary had a strong faith and was a longtime parishioner of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church. The way in which she touched our lives will remain with us forever. The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of the River East Personal Care home for their care and compassion extended to our mother. Mary was treated with so much love, kindness and respect. It truly was her second home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with viewing half hour prior at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 315 Munroe Avenue (corner of Brazier and Munroe), Winnipeg, with Father Greg Mulligan officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. "There's love in every thought of you, Mother, warmth in every memory, and a world of thanks that our lives were blessed to have you as our Mom."

Thinking about Mrs. Hammerling especially on a cold winter day reminds me of her kindness and generosity as a neighbor. Many times she would give me and my sisters a lift to and from school so we didn't have to endure the cold walk to and from Angus Mckay. Cheryl, Debbie, Karen and Mark I am truly sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of you and your Mom as you Celebrate her life. Bill(y) Toews - Posted by: Bill Toews (Neighbor in the 70s) on: Feb 09, 2019
