LORRAINE ELIZABETH MCINTOSH Lorraine Elizabeth McIntosh, born February 12, 1927, died February 21, 2019, in Lac du Bonnet, at age 92. Her son Paul and daughter-in-law Leslie were privileged to be at her side when she passed peacefully, late on a beautiful winter evening. She was predeceased by husband Ramsay, son Scott, daughter Leslie (Peter) and brothers, Lawrence, Paul and Gordon. Loving 'Nana' to Kristin Jarvis (Geoff), Scott McIntosh (Karla), JD and Rod McIntosh, Stephen Wakeman, and great-grandmother 'Nana Rain' to Beatrice and Abigael McIntosh, and Sofie and Oceana Jarvis, always nearby with a card or phone call. Born in Winnipeg to parents, Paul and Elizabeth Dow and raised in the city, she married into a farm family when she met husband Ramsay. She embraced Lac du Bonnet life and was the consummate farm wife and partner - delivering elaborate meals to the field, driving combine, raising a family and handling the bookkeeping. Travel was her passion; right into her 80s she could have a bag packed in minutes at the mere mention of a trip anywhere. She started Lorraine's Travel in mid-life and began a career of chaperoning and selling travel. She and Ramsay saw the world. She toured with childhood friend Shirley, with curling buddies to Silver Brooms worldwide. Lorraine's friends were her riches and she was a networker long before it was a buzzword. She and Ramsay wintered for 30 years in Florida with close friends. They hosted parties in their homes often into the wee hours. Music was always present: she loved to dance with Ramsay, played piano at home, and the spoons in kitchen bands at parties. Busy and energetic would be an understatement! She gave to her community working on the Arena Board, the Health Auxiliary, at the Historical Society and as an early member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lac du Bonnet. She was licensed to sell real estate and insurance and loved learning anything new. Family came first, and she would host a family gathering for five or 25 at a moment's notice. She will be missed very much. She had a long battle with dementia which was a cruel fate for a vital and literate woman. Even in the final stages of the disease, she maintained her impeccable social graces. She was grateful for friend and care-giver Kristine who lived with her in her home. She was comforted by the incredibly special staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home and her friend Dr Bruneau. She loved visits from dear friend Caroline (and Magic the dog) and her sister-in-law Mary and niece Cathy. Celebrate her life, perhaps by having a beer and peanuts at happy hour with a good friend, catching a musical, calling an old pal, or planning a trip to that place you've always wanted to see. Memorial service will be at the former Anglican church at 10:30 a.m. on April 13, 2019.
