STELLA JAMAN (nee CHRYNOWSKI) It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Stella, our dear mother, sister and auntie, into the loving arms of our Lord, on March 5, 2019, at Riverview Health Centre. Stella will be lovingly remembered by her one and only daughter Nicolette (Gordon Taylor), brother Norm (Marge) Chernie, nieces, Barbara (Derek) Longfield, Tannis (Chuck) Haarsma, Susan (Alex) Kelly and Patti (Mark Thibault), nephew Jeff Chernie, their families, and many other nieces, nephews and close friends - especially "The Gang". She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Nicholas, sister Olive (Stephen) Nebozenko, and parents, William and Ksenia Chrynowski. Stella was born on June 26, 1930 in Narol, Manitoba where she graduated from Donald School. At 17 she moved to Winnipeg where she attended Success Business College and worked at The Bay in the Children's Department. Upon graduation she worked at Canadian General Electric until the birth of Nicolette. Stella spent the next few years as a devoted mother who was focused on providing the best for her "Babydoll". She later continued her career at C.G.E. and then retired from The Northwest Company in 1994. Stella had a strong devotion to her faith and Ukrainian culture. She was actively involved in St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church for 43 years and the U.C.W.L.C. She helped prepare many Thursday night dinners at the Welcome Home in it's inception and volunteered at The Shrine. This is also where she fostered many true and dear friendships including those with "The Gang". Stella was a lady of strong values and integrity. She was genuine, non judgmental, and a great confidante. She was known for her positive outlook on life, great sense of humour, and an infectious laugh. Stella's true joy was spending time with her Nick and Nicolette. She looked forward to annual road trips, especially spending time at Florida's Gulf Coast and in New Orleans, always sneaking in time to check out the malls. She loved the arts and for many years had a membership to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, where she also honed her joy of drawing, and season tickets to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Stella loved the outdoors and spent many a summer at Grand Marais, camping, gardening, cross-country skiing, cycling, and golfing with the girls. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Mayba and Jayne Kasian at CancerCare for their many years of dedicated care and support. A huge thank you to Tamara from Palliative Care for her compassionate and exceptional care during Mom's final months and to the entire Palliative Care team at Riverview Heath Centre. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main St. If so desired, donations can be made in Stella's memory to St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund, Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky Shrine, or CancerCare Manitoba.
