GEORGE THOMAS WATSON June 29, 1941 - March 7, 2019 It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend at the River East Personal Care Home. George is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Dianne, loving daughters, Kerrie (Jim) and Kellie (Ryan), dearly cherished grandchildren, Ashlie and Austyn Ducharme, Brooke and Maddie Hildebrandt and Cassia Glass, mother Dot Watson, brothers, Bill (Carla) and Rob (Marilou), as well as nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his father George Watson Sr., mother and father in law, Anne and Harry Krutiak, nephew Brad Watson. George was born and raised in the north end of Winnipeg. After graduating from Tech Voch High School he was employed with Dominion Bronze Ltd. He married the love of his life, Dianne on October 5, 1963. They settled in Windsor Park where they raised their family. In 1967 he was hired as a bus operator with the City of Winnipeg and then promoted to instruction, retiring in 1997 as the head of the instruction department. George then took a position as manager of Chateau Lanes. After retirement George enjoyed golfing with Heather Seniors at Kildonan Golf Course. George was one of the founding members and treasurer of Winnipeg Transit Heritage Association. George excelled in all sports, played junior hockey, baseball, etc. Tenpin bowling was a large part of George's life both as a participant, coach and spectator, and his passion was extended to his entire family. His favourite place was at the family cottage in Laclu, Ontario. For the past 70 years he created a place where many laughs were shared and memories were made. Family meant everything to him; Papa never missed an opportunity to attend all of his children's and grandchildren's activities, whether it be sports, highland dancing or the Heather Belle Ladies Pipe Band. The family wishes to thank the staff at the River East Personal Care Home (Faith Lane) for their compassion and tender care of George. In compliance with his wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
