Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA DO CARMO BRAS MORGADINHO GORDO It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Maria Gordo, on Sunday, March 17, 2019. Maria passed away at the age of 78, with her family by her side, at Grace Hospital, after a long battle with Dementia. She will be forever remembered by her loving husband of 57 years, Carlos, daughter Olga (Paulo), and grandsons, Lucas and Joshua. She also leaves brothers, Florentino (Susie), Joaquim (Rosa), Jose (Ermelinda), Fernando (Yvette), and sister Maria Jose (Antonio), as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Maria was predeceased by her father Antonio Morgadinho and mother Maria Joaquina. Maria was born on April 17, 1940 in Silvares Fundao, Portugal. She was the eldest of six children. After marrying her husband they both left Portugal in search of a better life and worked in France and Australia before immigrating to Canada. Maria was a very hard worker, who loved spending time feeding friends and family. Her passion was cooking, and spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens in the summer. She enjoyed going back home to Portugal every few years visiting friends and family. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 21 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street N. Interment to follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Dementia Unit. The family thanks the staff at Riverview Hospital AB1 unit for their great care over the last few years, and to Deer Lodge and Grace Hospital for the time up to her death. Also a very special thank you to her sister Zezita for all her help and support throughout her illness, and to the many friends for all your support.
