I first met Joe as a teenage at the Melfort Church of the Nazarene. He was a gentle, kind man, who loved a good laugh and was loved by everyone who knew him. He moved to Winnipeg to work at Canadian Nazarene College, where I caught up with him a few years later. Joe was a faithful and treasured employee and Christian friend to the students. Joe and Anne were married during my years in Winnipeg. When Doug and I got married in ‘74, Joe and Anne very graciously gave us an amazing old couch to add to our “early marriage furniture” collection. It served us well for 19 years! Joe was unwavering in his service to God, his family, his church and his friends! Our condolences to Anne. - Posted by: Grace (Wood) Spreeman (Friend) on: Jun 07, 2019

Joe Belton exemplified the Christian characteristic of unconditional acceptance of others. Conversing even for a few minutes with this nice warm man had the effect of quieting the heart, his belief and trust in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ evident and unwavering. It was years after meeting Joe that I learned of the loss of his son, a tragedy that he carried within but clearly one that he had allowed our Creator to give grace and courage for him to carry on. I had not the opportunity to meet his dear wife Anne, but please let me say that I offer my deepest sympathy to her and Joe's entire family. I might add in closing that I have the most profound sense, Biblically supported, that our Heavenly Father considers among the litany of wonders to be expected in His Heavenly Kingdom, amazing and most special reunions. - Posted by: Gordon Nicolson (friend at Church) on: Mar 30, 2019

I was good friends with Mr. Belton's son Andrew. Growing up I spent a lot of time at the Belton's house and have many fond memories of my time there. Mr. Belton was always such a kind man and always welcomed me into their home. My condolences to Mrs. Belton. Jeff Kraynyk - Posted by: Jeff Kraynyk (Friend) on: Mar 30, 2019

I sold Joe his first bed when he got married. My wife and I were moving from the college to Toronto and needed to sell it. Joe was a very friendly and accepting men...a fine Christian. I remember him fondly. RIP my friend! Rev. David McKenzie, M.Div., Ph.D. - Posted by: David McKenzie (CNC student) on: Mar 28, 2019

We knew Joe through the church. Joe was always cheerful and loved to stop and chat. We sometimes gave him a ride to the church. He was so faithful towards The Lord. We would often see him doing odd jobs at the church, such a willing servant. He grew huge, lovely Zucchini by his fence. He would bring some to us, as well as some big Chocolate Bunnies for our children, once they were on sale! ! He wrote a small book on living Married Life. He got our daughter to edit it. He wanted to publish it and put a copy in the church library. We sometimes saw Joe and Anne walking together, at King’s Park, or St Vital Park. He was a faithful husband. - Posted by: Mel and Carol Schwab (Church friends) on: Mar 26, 2019
