LUDVIK FICKO
August 21, 1935 - April 10, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ludvik Ficko; loving father,
husband and grandfather.
Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 62 years, Anna, his children, Majda (Hamza), Joe (Dawn), grandchildren, Kyle, Terry-Anne, Demitri, Paris and Ryker. He is sadly missed by his brother Joe and sister Emma in Slovenia along with many relatives, nieces and nephews in Europe as well as the many friends in the Winnipeg Slovenian
community and in Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Ludvik was born on August 21, 1935 in
Slovenia and lived there until the age of 20 when he left what was then known as
Yugoslavia with his wife Anna to come to
Canada for a better life. They landed in
Winnipeg and Ludvik started working at a flour mill carrying 50 lb bags of flour on his back and he worked his way up to
management. When the flour mill closed, he was recruited as a manager for another flour mill in Virden, Manitoba and worked there until his retirement, at which time, he and his wife returned to Winnipeg to be close to the family.
Ludvik was loyal to his commitments,
whether they were work related or family. He was a hard working, devoted family man. Ludvik did not have many hobbies but he was a true handyman and loved fixing things
inside the home and around the yard.
Providing for his family was his focus in life and he was tough, loyal and proud to the end. He will always be remembered for his love of joking around and making other people laugh.
In keeping with Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 95 MacDonald Ave., Winnipeg,
Manitoba with reception to follow. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and should friends and
family so desire, donations in Ludvik's
memory may be made to CancerCare
Manitoba or the charity of one's choice.
