S. RITA PETIT
Rita naquit à Ile-des-Chênes, MB, le 5 novembre 1925. Son père, Edmond Petit, était originaire de la Belgique, et sa mère, Lucie Dumaine, était originaire d'Ile des Chênes, Manitoba.
L'ont précédé dans la mort ses parents, ses soeurs, Marie-Ange, Thérèse, Agnès, Agnès (Petit) Haddock, et deux frères, Albert et René.
Outre les membres de sa communauté religieuse, elle laisse dans le deuil une soeur, Thérèse Chartrand (Alfred), un frère, Ernest (Rolande Johnson), deux belles-soeurs, Jeannette (Manaigre) Petit, Gauvin et Lucille (Chabot) Petit et un beau-frère, Edouard Haddock.
Les prières seront mardi, le 23 avril 2019 à 10 h à la chapelle de Villa Aulneau, 601 rue Aulneau, Winnipeg, MB. Les funérailles seront célébrées à 13 h 30 le même jour, au même endroit. L'Abbé Fernand Desjardins présidera la célébration.
L'inhumation des cendres aura lieu au Cimetière St-Boniface de la rue Archibald le même jour à 15 h 30, 2019. La direction des funérailles est confiée au salon Mortuaire Cropo.
Les Missionnaires Oblates de St-Boniface désirent remercier toutes les personnes qui lui ont procuré des bons soins à Actionmarguerite St-Boniface.

SISTER RITA PETIT
Rita was born in Ile des Chenes, MB, on November 5, 1925. Her father, Edmond Petit, originated from Belgium, and her mother, Lucie Dumaine, was born in Ile des Chenes, MB.
She was predeceased by her parents, and four sisters, Marie-Ange, Thérèse, Agnès, Agnès (Petit) Haddock, and her brothers, Albert and René.
Along with the members of her religious Congregation, she leaves to mourn her passing, her sister Thérèse Chartrand (Alfred); one brother Ernest (Rolande Johnson); two sisters-in-law, Jeannette (Manaigre) Petit, Gauvin and Lucille (Chabot) Petit and a brother-in-law Edouard Haddock.
Prayers are on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Villa Aulneau, 601 Aulneau, Winnipeg, MB. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the same address. Father Fernand Desjardins will preside the celebration.
Inhumation of the ashes will take place on the same day at 3:30 p.m. in the St. Boniface Cemetery on Archibald Street. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
The Missionary Oblate Sisters of St. Boniface express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface for their care and compassion.

I have known Rita for most of my life starting as she taught me in early grades at St. Charles. Many years passed before were reconnected in a positive and forgiving way and remained friends till her leaving us. Everytime I went to Wpg I visited her and we correspondent frequently for birthdays and holiday events. Back in tge early years we as students knew her only as Sr. Ernest Albert till many things changed in their community. Not having heard from her in quite some time, I realized her age was in the way but I continued to pray for her like always. Now we wish her a safe journey toward her beloved Lord as He is ready to receive her. Rest in peace in friend. My sympathies to her family. She spoke of you so often I felt I knew you. Sr. Rita was 1 year older than my father, George Petit her 1st cousin, and they would always joke about that and hold it over him. As a young man my father worked on his uncle Edmond's farm , her father, and he liked to tell a story with laughter about her driving skills and how he covered for her when she hit the barn door with her father's new car. - Posted by: Gisele Petit ( cousin) on: Apr 23, 2019

Well, I've known aunt Rita my whole life. She's my Dad's older sister...11 years older and a Sister/nun, with the Oblates order. All of her nieces and nephews awaited their Birthday as they would actually receive a letter in the mail from Aunt Rita with Birthday wishes. But once we all turned 18 the letters stopped, and perhaps we were all a bit disappointed. Aunt Rita has a Doctorate in Education from an American University, she was extremely smart...and opinionated. Her grandmother was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and grandparents married in Leroy, North Dakota, so I guess that made sense. My fondest memory of her is of our whole family, Mom, Dad and all five kids, driving to Gimli to visit her in her apartment as she was teaching there. She did her best to forge a modernization of the strictness of her Catholic Order, but by osmosis she was very strict. My Dad respected her tremendously as I do, she was her own person. She never had to answer to men, except maybe a few Priests she had deal with. She's actually a few months older than the Queen, Elizabeth II, who turns 93 today.
