SARAH SADIE BENDERSKI

Peacefully on April 21, 2019, at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, Sarah Benderski passed away at the age of 85.
Sadie will be sadly missed by her loving sons, Terry (Shannon), Darrell (Melanie), Brent (Kelly) and Darcy (Ginnette). She will be cherished by her grandchildren, Tami, Shaun (Kim), Ryan, Justin, Jayleen, Cassidy (Dillon), Zachery, Jacob, Megan, Kaitlyn and Ayden, and great-grandchildren, Kai, Colton and Liam.
She was predeceased by her husband George in 2005; parents, Irene and William Andrews, and twin brother Billy from Newtownards, Northern Ireland.
Mom came to Canada in 1954 from Ireland where she met the love of her life George, and married in 1955. She began working at Eaton's in Winnipeg and also helped out at the family owned business: Benderski's Self-Serve in East Kildonan, alongside George and her brother-in-law Norbert. Once Sadie became a mom she chose to devote her time to raising her family.
Mom always looked forward to family gatherings, going to bingo, playing cards, caring for her grandchildren, tending to her flowers, and shopping.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to the professional/caring staff at Concordia Place Personal Care Home for the wonderful, compassionate care provided for the past several years.
As per Mom's wishes, an immediate private family service will take place.
We would like to invite friends and family to a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prince Edward Legion, 300 Trent Avenue.

  • My daughter and I were able to spend many wonderful times with Sadie. Even our cat would insist on calling on Sadie for a visit. We shared Easter together one year with my departed mother. She always had a sweet to offer up. God be with you Sadie. - Posted by: Cynthia Darcel (Neighbor ) on: Apr 15, 2021

Though we didn’t know Sadie well we’ll remember what a nice woman she was very friendly with everyone and if her children are any measure of her she was a great success.
