PAULA FEDYSHYN
(SCHAFFER)
January 15, 1924 - April 27, 2019

It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of our beautiful and amazing mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend Paula Fedyshyn at the age of 95.
She was predeceased by her husband John, daughter Larissa, son Boris and great-grandson Cooper. Paula leaves behind her daughters, Monica, Gloria, Patricia, Nadia, Elizabeth (Ernie), Irene (Jim), Dorothy, Linda (George) in Germany, and son Les, as well as her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren to treasure her memory.
Paula was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada in 1951. She lived with her husband John and raised their family in Winnipeg's north end. Throughout the years, Paula worked in the food service industry and was well known for her fabulous cooking. She was an exceptionally strong and brave woman, always looking out for the less fortunate and generously helping others. She loved her pet dogs and birds and usually gave them the same names.
Paula had a great sense of humour and a lovely smile. She will be sadly missed, but forever loved and cherished by her devoted family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff in the emergency ward and third floor of the Concordia Hospital. They took excellent care of Paula making it possible for her to live out her final days in comfort.
A private service for family and close friends will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paula's name can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I'm going to miss all of Paula's stories from the past and visiting with her at Monica's. She was one of the strongest, smartest women (and funny) that I have ever met. Rest In Peace Paula. You will never be forgotten. - Posted by: cheryl kisil (family friend) on: May 02, 2019

  • Please accept my condolences. She will be greatly missed at Camp Neustadt. I will miss seeing her smiling face when I take a walk down 2nd Street and having a chat. Our greatest memory is as a kid when she ran the restaurant at camp and every Friday my parents would take us for supper and for my kids it was always her fries. Paula say hi to mom and dad when you see them - Posted by: Doris (Friend) on: May 02, 2019

  • My sincere condolences to the entire Fedyshyn family on the loss your Mom, grandma and great-grandma. I remember Paula as a hardworking woman who loved her family, home and animals. Lifelong friendships between the Malloy and Fedyshyn families are intact today and we share your pain, after losing our Mom only one year ago. Much love to Dorothy, Irene, Liz and you all.❤️ - Posted by: Elaine Stetina (Family friend) on: May 01, 2019

  • Paula was a wonderful, compassionate lady who will be missed by many in Camp Neustadt. She had a great sense of humour while running the restaurant at the lake and a sense of peace and patience later on in life. Our sincere condolences to all of her family. - Posted by: Marion Krause (Friend) on: May 01, 2019
