MARIA LUCZAK

On the morning of May 2, 2019, after a long struggle with Cancer, Maria Luczak passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, with her husband and children at her side.
Maria is survived by her husband Andrzej Luczak; son Michael Luczak (January) and grandchildren, Julia and Elise; daughter Krystyna Luczak (Hao Chiang); and son Greg Luczak; along with cousins, Zbyszek and Yolanta Palubicki in Tczew, Poland.
Maria was born 1941 in Zukow, Poland and raised by her mother Maria Klaczko, stepfather Dymtro Klaczko and aunt Katarzyna Kordupel in Paslek, Poland where she developed her love of gardening and nature. She became a teacher and worked at an orphanage in Elblag, Poland - a position she was proud of and loved. In June of 1966 she married Andrzej Luczak in Paslek, Poland and in 1972 immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with their first born son Michael.
Maria continued her love of gardening in Canada, she took great pride in her flowers and vegetable garden at home and enjoyed spending time in her back yard. Maria also was an excellent cook who made some of the best Polish cuisine, especially during the holidays leaving many family members jostling for leftovers to take home.
Maria loved her family and friends. She cared very much for those around her and always had nice words to say about everyone she met. She enjoyed singing and was actively involved in the Holy Ghost church choir where she sang in festivals and events for many years. Maria was a dedicated and loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She also loved animals and had many dearly loved pets over the years.
For the last 10 years Maria was a member of the Holy Ghost Seniors Club, where she enjoyed spending time with friends, helping others and was well known for her coffee making skills. She helped prepare food and organize activities at the seniors club alongside other members.
Maria was especially proud of her grandchildren (Julia and Elise) and loved them very much. She was always willing to care for them and spend time with them.
Maria's love, kind heart and smile and will be missed most of all.
The family thanks the staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with Rosary and viewing at 9:30 a.m.
