He was predeceased by his parents, Giorgo and Nicholitsa Verras.
Spiro leaves to mourn his wife, Alexandra, of 58 years; sons, George (Dimitra), Nick (Demetra); daughter Maria; grandkids, Spiro, Andreas, Lexi, Dimitri, and Adonis.
He was born and raised in Farre, Greece. After serving in the Greek military, he met the love of his life, Alexandra. They began their life together in Patras, Greece, where they had their three children. In 1973, Spiro and his family immigrated to Winnipeg. During his time in Winnipeg, Spiro worked in the construction industry, followed by many years in the restaurant industry. In 1984, Spiro became the proud owner of Santa Lucia Pizza on Main Street. Spiro really enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved gardening.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
We would like to thank the St. Boniface Cardiac Unit for their extraordinary care and support.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue. Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue.
