ELIZABETH KASPER

On Thursday, May 30, 2019, Elizabeth Kasper passed away at the age of 93.
She is survived by her sister Mary who was able to be with her when she passed away. She is also survived by several cousins and their families.
Elizabeth was born in the Ukraine September 1, 1925 to Heinrich and Sara Kasper. In 1926 the family came to Canada and settled on a farm in the Manitou, MB area. Here she enjoyed a happy childhood and received her schooling.
She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and was baptised on upon confession of faith and joined the Manitou Mennonite Brethren Church. She attended Winkler Bible School for one year. She sang with the Manitou Choir for many years.
As a family they spent many happy years in Manitou. Sewing was her speciality. She did all the sewing for her mother and sister and still did it in later years as well.
As there was no brother, she helped Dad with many of the farm chores. She became a good mechanic - able to fix things - electrical she refused to touch.
In 1960 when Mom and Dad retired and they moved to the city, a new life began. She worked for many years in the sewing industry until she retired.
In 1984 when Mom and Dad passed away, a new phase of life began. Together with Sarah and Mary, she was able to do a lot of travelling. She was able to visit her only aunt from Dad's side in the Soviet Union in 1989.
In 1996 she and Mary were able to travel to Israel with Fehrway Tours. It was very interesting trip, especially to see so many places mentioned in the Bible.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mary, it has been many years since Manitou and since we went to school there. I an sorry to read about Elizabeth's passing but it was nice you had those trips together. Always something to remember. I just attended the luncheon for Nellie McClung who, as you know, had roots in Manitou and was able to see some others we went to school with. So nice. My deepest sympathies and you keep well. Geraldine - Posted by: Geraldine (Henderson) McLean (School friend) on: Jun 27, 2019
