LUISE (ALOISIA) BAYDACK

Luise Baydack died peacefully on June 2, 2019, surrounded by her immediate family, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, after suffering a massive heart attack. She was 76.
Her beloved husband Len; daughters, Natalie (Allen) and Karina; her son Richard (Lydia); her grandchildren, Astrid, Sarah, Leah, Kellen, Isla and Kate; her sister Rita (Horst); her sister-in-law Hilde; her nieces and nephews; and her large extended family are heartbroken by her untimely passing.
Luise was born Aloisia Blüml on June 21, 1942 in the hamlet of Haberling, Bavaria, Germany.
In 1968, her sense of adventure brought her to Canada with a dream to visit Alaska. Soon after arriving in Winnipeg, she met Len Baydack. They were married in Germany in May 1970, returning afterwards to Canada to start their new life together and raise a family. This past May 23, they celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Although Luise found it difficult to leave her family in Germany, as her own family and circle of friends expanded in Canada, her love for her new country grew until it truly was her home. In 1989, Luise and Len volunteered through the International Centre to help an Ethiopian refugee family settle in Canada. The one-year commitment became a lasting bond: Luise and the Borus considered each other to be family.
Luise took great joy in spending time at home and at the Baydack family cottage at Falcon Lake with her grandchildren, of whom she was very proud. She formed a unique relationship with each one, and they all adored their dear Oma.
One of Luise's greatest gifts was her unique ability to emphathize and connect effortlessly with others. As a result, she was deeply loved by many. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
A private Celebration of Life will be held to honour Luise's life and memory. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to one of the charities that were important to her, or another of their choice.
