ELAINE (MELL) GILLIGAN
February 15, 1938 - June 16, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my beloved wife Elaine (Mell) Gilligan on Sunday morning of June 16, peacefully in her sleep, after a very courageous battle with lung cancer. She was a survivor of breast cancer more than a decade ago.
Elaine leaves to mourn, her daughter Cathy Gilligan, brother Larry Mell (Arlene), husband Ken Bacala, and her precious little dog Meeka, whom she adored. Elaine was predeceased by her father and mother Max and Vera Mell.
Elaine was a huge animal lover her whole life. She had many cats over the years, all of whom will be waiting at the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for her.
Elaine was born in Montreal and moved to Winnipeg as a child. She grew up in West Kildonan and attended West Kildonan Collegiate where she graduated.
Elaine worked for Blue Cross for many years, and then later Bayshore Health Care as an on call shift coordinator.
She lived in Denver, Colorado for 10 years with her first husband, father of her daughter Cathy, who was born in Denver.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
Flowers are graciously declined. If friends so wish donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Elaine's memory.
