JOHANNA (MARIA) LAVALLEE

On the morning of June 16, 2019, Johanna (Maria) Lavallee passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Born May 25, 1934 on the farm in Riverton, Manitoba to Matthildur and Thorsteinn Thorsteinson. Maria spent her early years on the farm before moving to Avalon Road with her sister to work at Eaton's. While walking home from the bus stop she was offered a ride by her husband of 66 years, Lou.
Her greatest joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was very competitive at the St. Vital Curling Club for many years, and loved to watch her children and grandchildren playing sports. In her retirement years Mom and Dad enjoyed their winters in Hemet, CA but her happiest moments were spending evenings at the lake with family.
Maria is survived by her husband Lucien (Lou); sons, David (Valerie), Neil, Stefan; Doug (Carol), Shea, Jordan, Kyra; daughters, Doreen (Bob), Brittany, Lauren; Sharon (Jim), Jamie, Matthew; great-grandchildren, Lily, Avery, Madeline, Charlotte and Owen. She is also survived by her siblings, Kristine, Wilma, Norma, Alda, and predeceased by her parents, infant son Roger, and siblings, Allan, Magnus, Lillian, Antonia, Thorstina and Olafur.
A special "Thank You" to the caregivers at Cathedral Manor and the Rosewood.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
