MADELENE BERNICE DOERKSEN
(COLBURN)
January 10, 1937 - June 20, 2019
Madelene leaves behind her husband Len, daughter Janelle Peterson (Brent), grandchildren, Lauren and Joel, son Craig Doerksen (Cathy), grandchildren, Jennifer and James, and brother-in-law Barry McGhie. She is predeceased by her twin sister Marlene McGhie, brother Marvin Colburn and sister-in-law Pearl Colburn.
Madelene was a lifetime member of Calvary Temple where she sang in the choir for 20 years. Len and Madelene met in the choir in 1955. They married in 1959 and have celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Madelene worked for many years as the bookkeeper for their own business, Doerksen Medical Gas Systems, for 28 years. She also volunteered weekly for 13 years at the Health Sciences Centre gift shop as a cashier.
In their retirement years, they wintered in Mesa, Arizona. They participated in the music ministry of the church in their RV park and volunteered at Sunshine Acres, a children's orphanage, for the 13 years they were in Arizona.
They enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren at their church camp, "Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre" on Pelican Lake.
She will be dearly missed by her family.

Your life was a tremendous blessing to us . We will be forever grateful for the love and kindness showed to us when we moved to Winnipeg . We knew absolutely no one in this province but you and Len instantly made us feel welcome and special . The monthly coffee times we had together with you and Len, how can we ever forget. You will be forever in our hearts. Love Larry and Daphne - Posted by: Larry and Daphne Johnson (Friends) on: Jul 05, 2019

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 Dear Len & family, We were saddened to read of Madeline's passing into Glory in today's Free Press but rejoice with you, that by faith in our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, she is now singing before His throne with all the saints! We remember fondly our time as neighbours on Greene Ave. Maranatha Cliff & Evelyn Morrissey - Posted by: Cliff & Evelyn Morrissey (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2019
