KATHERINE PIWOWAR
November 21, 1931 - June 22, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all, on June 22, 2019 at Seven Oaks Hospital. She had suffered from debilitating medical issues for several years.
Her memory will be forever cherished and celebrated by her children, Peter, Michael and Maria, and grandchildren, Kayla and Nareeha.
She was predeceased by her husband Nick (Nykola), parents, John and Maria Hirskyj, and brother Stefan.
Katherine was born in Western Ukraine. She immigrated to Canada following the Second World War, married and settled in Winnipeg. She took great interest in her family and was very proud of their accomplishments.
She cherished her Ukrainian culture and heritage. A very generous and compassionate person she was known for lending ethnic art, music, books and outfitting those performing at concerts and cultural events with embroidered costume pieces.
Katherine enjoyed attending concerts, gardening, interpreting for others (she spoke five languages), travelling and having tea parties.
Katherine loved her family unconditionally and left them a legacy of believing in themselves, in always being a help to others. She will be sadly missed.
A family interment has taken place.
