I met Tina while I worked at Good Neighbours Senior Centre as Program/ Volunteer Coordinator. Tina came into the centre one day at lunch time just after she moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her daughter. She was at odds as she missed her involvement at a senior centre in Ontario. It was to be a match made in heaven as we welcomed her with open arms. We were opening a food service for the members and were looking for a coordinator. She rolled up her sleeves and was instrumental in the success of Hobnobs. It was a wonderful service for members to socialize with others after classes were over. She went on to become coordinator of the Social Committee. We worked closely together and she spoiled us with treats every day. She was very hard-working and we loved having her around. At Christmas time she invited the staff for lunch at her apartment. To this day I still make and enjoy her recipe for “Your Roots Are Showing”.
