I met Gary for the 1st time in 1974 at the Ye Olde Hobby Mart on Portage Ave and he was my best friend right away. He was the one who got me into the CB Radio craze in the 70s, and even helped me set up my CB antenna on the house where I used to live on Manitoba Ave. We used to go everywhere together and had lots of fun. My sincere condolences to his Family. I last spoke with Gary maybe in 2016 and was happy. Sorry that this is so late but while checking the obits I noticed his name. RIP old friend, and thanks for being my friend. - Posted by: Michael Kulczycki (Friend) on: May 18, 2023

I only knew you for a short time of about 5 years but in that short time I knew you as an amazing partner to Teresa and loving father figure to both Isha and Greg. I will never forget the time I got to watch the hockey game with you and the Sharks beat Vegas and we were cheering so hard. Also I will never forget how you never messed a day of Folklorama sitting front row and center. Everyday, cheering Isha on and cheering us all on. Folklorama will not be the same but we know you are cheering us all on. I wish you could see the show we have this year but I know your watching us from a better place. You will be greatly missed by all your friends and family. - Posted by: Adrien (Close friend of the family) on: Jul 23, 2019

Gary my big brother, we grew up, I remember when we were in Germany at a young age we went swimming and had to take the bus back and you spent all the money on cheesecake. Also all the times we went roller skating. Your life will always be remembered and you were always loved by your family. Your big heart and and your willingness to help family and friends. Nicknames gonzo/skinny. Love your brother James. - Posted by: James (Brother) on: Jul 15, 2019

July 1, 1994 was one of the best days of my life and it was spent with Gary and his friends, many of whom were at his funeral. It was the Pink Floyd concert at the Winnipeg Stadium. I have included the set list for that concert as it brings back amazing memories. Thank you Gary for being with me for some of the best moments in my life. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pink-floyd/1994/winnipeg-stadium-winnipeg-mb-canada-7bd76670.html - Posted by: Sheldon Nemeth (Nephew) on: Jul 12, 2019

Gary You were part of me and our lives were intertwined. We loved each other that was unspoken. My heart would ache and I felt helpless when I watched your life unravel You reached out so many times, you wanted to do better and purify your heart and body. Your challenges created barriers to a healthy relationship between you and I But, not for one wavering minute did I feel you didn't love us. We loved you the person. I will always cherish, the late bon fires and the heart to heart talks. This you relished as it brought you happiness. In fact, you were always over just kicking back enjoying the simple things in life This changed a few years back. You became more distant. But we did then and do now love you and will forever. We will see each other again and be able to talk in peace. My gentle giant Your sister Ellen - Posted by: Ellen Nemeth (Sister) on: Jul 11, 2019

My sincere condolences on the passing of Garry. Although we lost touch, I remember him as an easygoing, friendly, kind man with a giant heart. We shared a great love for German food and I made sure to make rouladen when he came for a visit. I will remember him fondly and especially his awesome laugh. He will be missed.
