PEARL RANNVEIG EYFORD
September 14, 1921 July 10, 2019
She will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.
Pearl lived life to the fullest, cultivating meaningful relationships with family and lifelong friends. She was very engaged in all aspects of life: through her career in the insurance industry, as a member of the First Lutheran church, in her volunteer work and through her passion for music and decades spent teaching piano. Pearl has left her family a wonderful autobiography she published in 1994.
She travelled the world but had a special connection to Iceland which she visited eight times. She dedicated herself to learning the language and connecting her family here with their Icelandic relatives. Pearl loved a good party to celebrate special occasions. She was adventurous and loved being active such as white water rafting in Juneau, Alaska, for the first time at the age of 75 and golfing weekly until 80 years old. She was an avid Blue Bombers fan.
Pearl believed in supporting others: looking after her sister Thelma, providing rides to people, actively contributing to the Music Teachers Association and activities at Betelstadur where she lived for over a decade.
Pearl was often heard saying, "Getting old is not for sissies." She demonstrated her resilience when addressing several health issues throughout her life. This included tuberculosis early in life, cancer, a stroke, the loss of her sight and managing the chronic pain of fibromyalgia. As her health declined, Pearl transitioned to the Lion's Manor Personal Care Home with acceptance, grace, appreciation and humor. Her family wish to thank the staff for the excellent care she received. It was evident how much each of them valued her. Pearl appreciated and enjoyed the many visits she received from family and friends. A special thank you to her friends Carol and Karen who supported Donna and Thelma in providing care to Pearl.
Rest peacefully Auntie.
Gotha Nott Elskan.

This was an exceptional teacher - loved by her students, respected by her parents and no doubt an integral part of a wonderfully creative family! We will miss her smile, her optimism and her generosity. She was a delight to be with, and we will all remember her with great affection and love. May she rest in peace!
