October 4, 1923 - July 29, 2019
He is survived by his son Wayne (Monique); daughter Michelle (Michael) Derewianko; son-in-law Michael Baziuk; grandchildren, Christine Lord (Garth), Angela Baziuk, Daniel Lambert (Julie), Jason Lambert (Torey), Christopher Derewianko (Cindy) and Natalie Tremblay (Tyson); great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Caley, Nicole, Xavier, Pippa, Max, Kaylin, Lincoln, Riley and Mayble; great-great-grandchildren, Keeland, Reilly and Aaliyah; sister Marie Riel and brother Armand (Marguerite) Lambert.
He was predeceased by his wife Fabiola and daughter Marlene.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, health care aides and staff at Actionmarguerite (St. Vital) for the compassionate care of our father for the past six months. We would also like to thank home care for their care and support during the time in his apartment.
Dad was very dedicated to Mom and they were married for 71 years. He loved his family and all his grandchildren. He loved to spend his spare time at Albert Beach and was a summer resident for 66 years. He was a carpenter, scout leader, card player (bridge), square dancer, pool shark, sang in a choir and a Snow Bird to Texas. In his early years he played hockey and baseball. He retired from Labatt's Brewery at 65. He loved his once a month Labatt's retirement lunches.
He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Funeral services will be August 6 at St. Eugene Church, 1009 St. Mary's Rd. The eulogy will be at 10:15 a.m. with service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba/Dementia Care and Brain Health.
