CLIFF HALWAS
Those left to cherish his memory are Barb, married 33 years; children, son Clayton, daughter Brittany (Conor), and son Clinton; sisters, Carol (Grant), Morgan, and Connie (Mike), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cliff was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Helen Halwas, as well as brothers, Harvey and Gord.
Born and raised in Russell till age 17, at which time his family moved to High Bluff, Manitoba. Meeting Barb in Lynn Lake in 1982 the pair moved south. Realizing his dream, he become a long haul truck driver with Arnold Brothers. In 2009 Cliff joined Portage Transport where he stayed until his passing. Cliff's love of trucking began with driving for Ed Humiski. During his trucking career he has driven both in Canada, the U.S. and the Territories. Hauling everything from sand, dirt, gravel, heavy equipment and machinery, he eventually decided to just hook up his trailer and go with dry van and reefers.
Cliff was a quiet man but when he spoke of Clay and Brit his face lit up with love. He always held them close to his heart where ever his travels led him.
You could always find Cliff at a dirt car track from early May until the season ended, both in the U.S. and Canada, trying his hardest to schedule his work around the races.
A come and go reception will take place on Monday, September 9 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Green Acres Reception Centre, Highway 1 East at Navin Road.
Donations may be made in Cliff's name to the High Bluff Cemetery Association, Box 44, High Bluff, Manitoba R0H 0Y0.
Flowers are gratefully declined.
