GEORGE JACK
George was the love of my life, a gentle soul who loved family and fit right into my large and boisterous family from day one in 1966. I, Marta Jack, shall miss dancing with George on Tuesday evenings for no reason at all, his sharp wit and constant support of
anything our son Spencer or I wanted to try.
Insert from Dr. Ben H. Fatherree, close friend of George's from Clinton, Mississippi: In 1973 I had the pleasure of meeting George, and thus began a friendship that spanned
decades and many, many thousands of miles.
The numerous times I spent as a guest of the Jacks were among the happiest days of my life. Manitoba became a second home as playing golf with George as my partner,
became an annual and highly anticipated summer ritual. I never once saw George lose his temper or heard him say an unkind word about another person.
He was the essence of gentleness, and I will miss my friend. Winnipeg has lost a man whose passing is and will continue to be mourned by many.
George did not like funerals. Honoring his wishes, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life on the first anniversary of his passing.
A wide variety of music and love of sport will follow George to his final resting place.
I will love you always, my handsome and not handy husband.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Lung Association, Manitoba.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss, I had many enjoyable years working with George and recall many fun times we had. To me he was one of the most trustworthy and caring people I had the privilege of calling my friend. I never heard George talk badly about anyone nor did I hear anyone say a negative word about him. Take Care Marta and Spence and know we are thinking about you at this very difficult time. Fred & Joyce Harland - Posted by: Fred and Joyce Harland (Friend and Co-worker) on: Sep 08, 2019

We were so sorry to hear of George's passing, Marta and Spencer. We are thinking of you both at this very difficult time. I have very fond memories of George, having known him from the late 1950s at St. James Collegiate and then working with him at CKY TV from 1965-1975. He was a wonderful and gentle person who will be missed. Rest in Peace old Friend! Del and Gloria - Posted by: Del and Gloria Forscutt (Friends and colleague) on: Sep 04, 2019

The first time I met George at CKY-TV, I knew he would be a long time friend. I had the privilege of working with him and would often stop by in master control and share a laugh. I never saw him rattled by any work situation and admired his calm demeanor. His humour was sly, subtle and always made us laugh. Janine and I will always remember the night when George, Marta and friends piled into my cruiser van and went to the Rolling Stones concert at the Winnipeg Stadium. I wish Mick Jagger could have seen the antics that George created...he would have loved it...I know we will never forget that night and many others. We love you George, thank you for your spirit...we love you Marta and Spencer. Prayers and healing thoughts. Joey and Janine - Posted by: Joey Gregorash (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2019

Marta and Spence, I am so sorry about the passing of sweet George. I remember his gentle good humor, his quick wit, his love of sports, and his intelligence. Though he was more often joking, he was a very smart man who could converse on a variety of subjects. He will be missed by his Mississippi friends. Love to you both as you work through your loss ❤️! - Posted by: Beverly Fatherree (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2019

George was one of the greatest men I have ever met. Kind, gentle, humorous spirit - no one I ever knew had an unkind word to say about him. And George never said anything unkind about anyone in turn. He was quite simply one of a kind. Sorry for your loss Spencer and Marta. - Posted by: John (Family friend) on: Aug 31, 2019
