DALE CRAWFORD NELSON
Born in High Prairie, Alberta on January 30, 1935, he leaves behind and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Barbara, of 61 years.
He grew up in Edmonton and then attended the universities of Idaho and Washington, where he met and married Barbara on September 26, 1958. Returning to Canada in 1960, they lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where Dale worked at CHATTV, first as a weatherman then as Program Director. In 1963, they moved to Lethbridge, where Dale assumed the position of Program Director at CJLH TV. Two years later it was on to Winnipeg to join the CBC as TV Producer-Director, and in 1970, as Director of Television Programming. He was always thankful for all of the friends and associates he was privileged to work with throughout his career. In 1972, he left the CBC, but continued to be engaged in independent TV production, as well as television programs for the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. Retirement in 1991 was a pure joy as he and Barbara then travelled the world each year, as well as spending time with their family and friends in Seattle and Edmonton.
According to Dale's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service.

I met Dale Nelson in Winnipeg in 1974 not sure where, but he had seen me perform. I was in Toronto studying music and he asked me to come back to Winnipeg and star in a variety show called “Altogether”. I was 22 and I could not believe my luck. We filmed thru the summer in 1975 at MTC. Also it was a national show. Got to work with brilliant musical director Bob McMullen whom I worked with at Rainbow stage and Chickie Hughes was one of the writers. Dale was so kind and I’m grateful to this day for his belief in me and giving me that tremendous opportunity. Hope all is well in heaven Dale.❤️ - Posted by: Kenny Mazlow (Friend) on: May 08, 2020

I had the great pleasure of knowing Dale when I was 12 working on a kids' show for the CBC called "BROWN PAPER BAG". I had been searching for Dale on the internet to try to reach out to him up until last year. So sorry that I never got to speak with him. He was a kind man. - Posted by: Michael Hearn (Simpson) (actor) on: Apr 04, 2020
