CHRIS TRYLINSKI

Chris Trylinski was born in Cooks Creek, MB June 15, 1919 and peacefully passed away September 14, 2019 in Winnipeg, MB.
Chris voluntarily enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was in the 1082 Regiment as a Leading Aircraftman during the Second World War. While in Germany, Chris met a special lady Herta whom he kept in contact with years later and cherished their time together. After the war, Chris obtained his electrical certificate and also worked for the Canadian National Railway. He established his own business, Transcona Electric. Later on he took teaching courses and became an instructor at Red River Community College in the electrical program where many electrical students benefited from his dedication to education. Chris had two of his homes built for him in Transcona, which he wired himself. He spent the last 51 years in his current home enjoying some woodworking and taking care of his yard. Chris enjoyed going to the Legion to dance and meet up with his friends.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Anastasia Trylinski; and siblings, William Trylinski, Zygmunt Trylinski and Verna Romanow.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his two children, Darlene (Darryl) and Gerald (Cheryl); grandchildren, Rory (Caroline), Lara (Sean), Alexa (Ethan) and Kale; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Nicholas and Annastasia.
He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Zukowsky and Louise Malegus; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were fortunate to celebrate Chris's 100th birthday this past June. Chris will be fondly remembered by his long time neighbours and friends at the Salisbury House restaurant in Transcona where he had coffee almost every morning.
In his memory, please donate to a charity of your choice.
The service for Chris will be Monday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. A reception will follow.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Chris was such an interesting and wonderful neighbour. I have many fond memories of him. Our family lived right next door to Chris. There were five of us kids, our parents, and even my grandmother for many years. We built a rink complete with flood lights all around one year, and while likely many other neighbours would have complained, Chris stuck a piece of paper to his window where the light was coming through - when we asked him if he had any issues he said he enjoyed watching the kids skating on the rink. He would also go around and collect all of the pucks that went over the boards and leave them on the ledge of the boards for us. I can recall another time when I was going for a jog along Plessis Road and I ran into him at the mailbox; he had just gone to the grocery store and had bought a box of bounce chocolate bars and he offered me one, and then he gave me an extra one to bring home to Grandma. ...one final memory was the last two Thanksgiving that we invited him over for dinner with the family. We would go over in the morning to invite him and I can recall telling him that we would come to walk him over - he assured us that it wouldn't be necessary and that he could walk over by himself. He was 98. He shared stories of his life and it was so nice sharing Thanksgiving with him. The next day he came over with a bottle of wine and chocolates that he picked up to thank us. How thoughtful! The next year he came again, but this time he let us walk him over - he was 99 after all. I'm not sure you could have asked for a better neighbour. He was the best. My condolences to his family. I will remember him with great fondness! - Posted by: Kristin Kuik (Old neighbour) on: Mar 29, 2020
