DIMITRIOS KOUTROUBIS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dimitrios Koutroubis, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He passed peacefully on the afternoon of December 16, 2019, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 89.
He is survived by his loving wife Stavroula; daughter Vicky (Robert); grandchildren, Alexandra and Jordan; son George (Lisa) and their children, Kylie, Keenan, Grayson and Dax; as well as six of his seven siblings in both Canada and Greece. He is predeceased by his parents, Georgios and Vassiliki; and his brother Kostas. We cannot express how deeply he will be missed.
Dimitrios was born in the village of Roino, Greece, in 1930. He left the village at a young age and served his time in the Greek army before moving to Argos, where he worked as a truck driver delivering goods across the country. In February of 1961, he immigrated to Canada in order to marry Stavroula, which he did in April of that same year. They spent 58 wonderful years together, building a life which saw the birth of two children and grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Anyone who knew Dimitrios knew that he was a proud, kind and loving man who cared for his family more than anything.
Prayers will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue. Funeral service will be held at the same location on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 360 McIvor Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba in his memory.
