SOULA LIONTAS
Soula was born in 1924 in Asia Minor but her family had to move as refugees in the same year to Kozani, Greece.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom in 1985. She is survived by her son Harris (Renata); and three grandchildren, Tom (Brittany), Demetri and Jessica. In Greece she is survived by her brother Vasilis; sister Marika and their families.
Soula met and married her husband Athanasios (Tom) in 1952. In 1963 Tom immigrated to Winnipeg in hopes of establishing a new life for his family, and in 1965 Soula and Harris followed to begin their life in Winnipeg as a family.
Soula was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always loved spending time with her family. Soula was a gifted seamstress who created beautiful pieces of clothing from high end bridal dresses to hemming a pair of pants. She worked for 30 years at various bridal boutiques throughout Winnipeg including Helene's and Marykas Fashion. She loved her job and it showed in the quality of her work and her attention to detail.
She was a part of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and her faith was very important to her. She was a member of the ladies Philoptochos for many years and enjoyed volunteering to help the community any way she could. She had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with and talking with daily. She enjoyed yearly family trips in addition to her annual trip to Greece to visit family. However, Soula's true passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her priority in life was ensuring her grandchildren were taken care of and shown endless love.
Flowers gratefully declined. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue. The funeral will be held at the same location on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., followed by the interment at Brookside Cemetery.

Harris.... I am very sorry for the loss of your Mom. I did not have the pleasure of meeting her, but she sounds like a very nice lady. Knowing you and working with you has shown me that your parents reared a strong, hard working and ethical son. Know that Lynn and I will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers during this time. The Lord's grace and mercies are so real and comforting. The AHEPA Family extends deepest sympathies and prayers to Harris Liontas and family for your loss. Soula’s kindness and zest for life and family was only matched by her devotion to volunteerism in the community. Her contribution fulfilled the ideals of Hellenism and philanthropy.
