GIOVANNI PESCATORE
Giovanni was predeceased by his wife Assunta, his sisters, Giusepina and Fortuna, and his brothers, Giuseppe, Modestino and Antonio in Italy. Giovanni leaves to mourn his daughter Rosa Iandolo (Bruno), son Pasquale (Ginette) and daughter Giovanna Faria (Joe), grandchildren, Marianna, Sylvio, Matteo and Dante.
Giovanni was born January 10, 1937 in Torelli, Mercogliano, Italy to Pasquale and Rosa Pescatore. Born into a family of five, Giovanni grew up in a small town in Italy. He experienced the tough recessionary times of life during the 1940s and 1950s. He married his wife Assunta D'Argenio in 1959 in Italy and came to Canada in 1960 after serving in the Italian Military to live, love and raise a family.
Giovanni was a hardworking laborer/ machinist who worked in various roles with CN Rail, CP Rail, Varta Batteries and Dominion Tanners and retired after 35 years. Giovanni loved to hunt, fish, cook, make wine, tend to his large garden and enjoy time with family and friends.
Prayers will be held Monday, December 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum.
The family thanks the staff at Maples Personal Care Home with special thanks to Liza, Anna and Marissa for their attentiveness and the medical staff on 3rd floor North at Grace General Hospital, and a very special thank you to nurse Sara who made my father's journey much easier.
