VIVIAN GERTRUDE FREE
October 11, 1929 - January 2, 2020

With great sadness, we announce that Mom passed away on January 2, 2020, in the Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 90 years.
She was the loving and devoted mother of Penny Gibson (Roy), Ronald McLeish (Gina), and Jackelyn Caine (Doug). Much loved grandmother of Amanda Dotoli (Martino), Travis, Conor, and Cody Gibson, Ben, Matt, Johnny and Katherine Caine and Lori and Jenna McLeish, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Spencer and Luca Dotoli, Brady Gibson, Taylor and Jacob Berube, and Camilla McLeish; she will also be missed by many friends. She was predeceased by husband James McLeish, and husband Daniel Free.
Our mom was the strongest woman we've ever met. Her life was a roller coaster taking her through many struggles and tragedies, but also great joy and happiness. The family was fortunate to celebrate her 90th birthday at the Canoe Club just three weeks before being diagnosed with cancer and hospitalized.
Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy, stories, and condolences for the family by visiting her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com.
In accordance with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

"Forever loved,
always be remembered
and missed deeply".
RIP Mom.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I remember Vivian from our time working together at the Grill Room in Eaton's. She was a good manager with a sharp wit and sense of humor. I can't believe that she welcomed me to the dining room almost to 40 years ago. I left Eaton's to begin my teaching career in 1989/90 but those were the best times. I remember them fondly in a large part because of Vivian. David Stern (Busboy - Thursday/Friday evenings and Saturdays) - Posted by: David Stern (Co-worker) on: Jan 19, 2020
