MURIEL LOUISE HOTEL
(nee AUSTIN)
November 28, 1929 – January 23, 2020

Muriel passed away peacefully in the St. Boniface General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, after a long battle with ALS.
Muriel was born in Glossop, Manitoba and raised in Strathclair, one of six children of Charles and Mable Austin.
She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Bert, Hazel Delgarno, Edna Hall, and Marie Austin. Muriel is survived by (George) Ralph Hotel, her husband of 67 years; and their children, Vic (Deb Magnusson), Danny (Katrina) and Tracy Stahl; sister Sandra (Dennis) Hosfield of Kenora; as well as five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Muriel became an LPN, with training in Brandon and Dauphin. It was in Strathclair where Muriel and Ralph met. They were married in 1953 and settled in Dauphin, then moved to Winnipeg in 1961. Muriel was a stay at home mom and then later worked at a nearby school. She enjoyed many years of travelling, golfing and bowling. She began golfing at the Canoe Club and later moved to St. Boniface Golf Club. There, she enjoyed many years of friendly competitions within the Ladies Golf League, where she was part of the executive numerous seasons.
Muriel was in good health until her diagnosis in 2016. With no cure was available, she had support from the ALS Society of Manitoba, the Motor Neuron Disease Clinic (Deer Lodge) and WRHA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A - 1717 Dublin Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0H2 or online at www.alsmb.ca
