Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Just today I learned of Nancy’s passing and I am profoundly saddened. Nancy and I both worked at the Winnipeg Art Gallery for many years and visiting her excellently stocked and managed shop was a favourite break in my work day. We grew up in the same area and had acquaintances in common. Nancy never failed to cheerfully greet me and ask about my family then or in the following years when we would meet while on walks in another neighbourhood we shared as adults. My heart goes out to Ernie, another dear colleague from the WAG, for his immeasurable loss. Nancy was a beautiful, caring, loving person and she will be immensely missed. - Posted by: Tricia Wasney (Friend and colleague ) on: Apr 05, 2020

  • Nancy was my supervisor at my first job at the Gallery Shoppes at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in the early 1980s. I certainly was a fortunate young woman to have such a fabulous first job with a wonderful supervisor! I will always remember her as a kind, understanding, thoughtful, confident, and dynamic supervisor and mentor who taught me the skills to be a competent, dedicated, and affable employee. She was also a friend to me, whom I greatly admired and respected. I have only fond memories of Nancy and was greatly saddened to learn of her long battle with cancer and of her recent passing. My mother also worked at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in the 1980s, and she fondly remembers Nancy. Dearest Nancy: may you now be in peace. You will be greatly missed. The Smallwoods extend our sincere condolences to her husband, Ernie, to Nancy's family, and her close friends. - Posted by: Carrie Smallwood (friend and former employee) on: Mar 05, 2020

  • I met both Nancy and Ernie in the early 1990's and as Ernie became the Photographer of my miniature art works, both Nancy and Ernie became very good friends over the years. Nancy's wonderful hospitality and Ernie's amazing Eggs Benedict are cherished memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Sincerest condolences, Darryl Audette - Posted by: Darryl Audette (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2020
