A life's journey that began on this earth in Glasgow, Scotland, ceased in the early morning hours of March 12, 2020, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With our hands intertwined, my head on his chest and surrounded by strains of music that he loved, my precious brother, John, passed away; finally at peace and free from all physical burdens he had endured bravely with strength, tenacity, determination, and a profound love for life. He was our family's true Scottish 'Soldier'.
John's friends and relatives are encouraged to honour his memory by reading his eulogy, sharing personal stories and memories, and offering condolences, by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com.
As his sister, Alexandra, I am far from alone in my deepest grief as John had innumerable friends including those he chose and cherished as 'family' in his life. To properly honour John in words and give true testament to his beautiful soul...well, that will take me a wee bit more time.

"Yours Aye" my Sweet Johnny

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our deepest sympathy Sandy. We can’t imagine the loss that you must be feeling. John was an incredible person, and was very lucky to have you as his caregiver for so many years. Megan and Monique were truly saddened to hear of John’s passing. They remember the evening that John and you took them in after they had been robbed not long after we had moved next door to you. John had fed them all the junk food and they have never for gotten that. They also have never forgotten how caring and compassionate that you both were with them. You took care of them until Tony was home from a meeting that he had and I was at another meeting. He was such a gentle, warm, caring, compassionate and loving person. He fought his adversities head on and never complaining. We will always remember his smile. Tony and Michelle - Posted by: Michelle (Friend and Neighbour) on: May 21, 2020

  • May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back and may the blessing of the earth be on you, soft under your feet as you lie out on it, tired at the end of the day; and may it rest easy over you when at last, you lie under it. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Bernice Small (friend and collegue) on: Mar 23, 2020
