Peacefully on March 16, 2020, at the Health Sciences Centre, Herbert M. Carvery Jr. passed away from heart failure after a long battle with kidney disease.
In light of the current health crisis and governmental instructions regarding public gathering, the family will be holding a private family service at this time.
At a later date, details for his Celebration of Life will be provided. Thank you in advance for your kind thoughts, care and support at this difficult time.

Deepest condolences to all of Herb's family. I knew him several decades ago when I worked at VIA Rail. We didn't work together, but knew each other to say hello. I knew him through meetings, social events, and by reputation. Herb was a gentleman, a professional, and a wonderful story-teller. He took great pride in his work, and was very well-respected and admired. To this day I remember and think of him fondly. He told marvellous stories of his life and work on the trains, as well as from his childhood. His stories opened my eyes on many matters, and memories of many of them can still bring belly laughs. I am very sad to hear that Herb passed away. He worked On Board & was in training (with Cass Specht) when I first started with VIA Rail in 1978. He was a gentleman and a gentle man.
