STEVE YAREMUS
January 1, 1932 - April 14, 2020
Dad will be deeply missed by our mom, Helen whom he was married to for 67 years and his five children, Ken, Carol (Steve), Bryan (Shirley), Glenn (Wendie), Marianne; 12 grandchildren, Michael, James (Alyssa), Christopher (Jeanette), Amy, Caroline, Tallon and Brandon, Nicole (Bruce), Paul (Isabella), Julia (Corey), Steven (Stephanie), Dylan and three great-grandchildren, Octavia, Lydia and Quinn.
Steve was born to Alex and Takla (Tennie) Yaremus of Skylake, MB on January 1, 1932. He had six siblings, Mike (deceased), Mary, Dora (deceased), Adam (Irene), Jean and Olga (deceased). Dad married Mom (Helen Chaszszewski) on October 25, 1952 and farmed in Skylake, MB. After the farm was sold, the family moved to the Southeast where he owned a garage, Zhoda Diner/store/gas station and then worked at Providence College for a few years until his retirement.
Dad enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and woodworking, which was his passion. He also enjoyed Ukrainian music, berry picking, making jellies and canning pickles. However, his specialty was making sauerkraut and his "special" brew.
He was always there for us and loved our family gatherings where his many stories and/or jokes would be told to all.
Dad was a proud man and had values which led to a life of integrity, commitment and hard work and to so many lasting friendships over the years. He will be extremely missed by his family and friends.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be announced at a later date so that we can all gather together to remember and celebrate Dad's life.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Vita Hospital for their care and compassion. Dad always mentioned how nice the nurses were and the great care he received at the hospital.
If you wish to make a donation, please do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Thank you.

To Helen and Yaremus childern and their families. We are thinking of your family and are sorry to hear about your loss and are sending our condolences. We have so many fond memories growing up by your family until about 11 yrs old and clearly remember coming over to your house and playing with Ken... I remember Steve giving us rides in his car coming from school...and this was a real treat. It appears he enjoyed a full life and has left his family with many precious memories. Keep strong during these hard times. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Irene Bechert (Tataryn) (Neighbor in Skylake lived across the road..daughter of Stella&Tony Tataryn) on: Apr 22, 2020
