HEATHER LYNNE MCCHEYNE
Born July 5, 1951, Heather is survived by her son Colin, his wife Jenny, and the sunshine of her life, her grandson Henry; brothers, Charles Merrick (Glenda), Dale and Lanny; sisters, B.J. Briggs (Don), Lynn Wiley, Danelle Fulawka (Leo) and Shawne Cook (Jason), and their families, along with uncles, aunts, cousins and her dearest friend of over 60 years, Frances McQuiggin.
She was predeceased by her parents, Peggy and Danny Merrick, and her best furry friend Murphy.
Mom attended Isbister Elementary, Gordon Bell High School and Red River Community College, graduating with Honours from the Advanced Counselling Program. She worked for the province of Manitoba Department of Family Services, as a Case Co-ordinator for many years, and took great pride in helping people and serving the public. Retiring in 2008 her leisure was filled spending time with her family, travelling, doing many DIY home renos and tending her garden.
She was a longtime member of John Osborn VC ANAF No. 1, filling the position of Bingo Administrator, and the Secretary/Treasurer of the John Osborn Jolly Senior's Association.
Her kindness and generosity of spirit was only exceeded by her sense of humour. Her love for children and animals and the need to protect, care and speak for them was a great issue for her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society are appreciated.
"Those we love don't go away,
they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near
.
still loved, still missed, and forever dear."

My most sorrowful feelings go out to my former school psychologist Linda Schwartz on the passing of Ms. McCheyne. May the Father comfort you during this sad time, may the good Lord bring you peace, and may the Holy Spirit guide you through the most difficult journey of your life. - Posted by: Philip (Former student of the wife of the late Wally McCheyne) on: Oct 06, 2021

I knew Heather for many years from Bingo at ANAF #1. Although we hadn’t been in contact for a number of years, I still remember her fondly. She was such a force of life, and oh that laugh! Rest In Peace dear Heather. Until we meet again. Natalie - Posted by: Natalie (Friend) on: Jul 27, 2020

Heather and I knew each other since we were 8. We played together, went to school together, and were room mates. We supported each other in good times and bad. We had crazy adventures, went to epic concerts, and road trips that had us laughing until we couldn't breathe. I had hoped we would have another 10-15 years of memories to make, but cancer had another plan. Rest in peace my bestie. My heart still breaks every morning when I wake up and realize it wasn't a bad dream.💔 - Posted by: Frances McQuiggin (Sister "from another mother") on: Apr 19, 2020

Heather will be greatly missed by many who knew her. When my grand daughter was born, she always had to see her fingers and toes...lol. They built a special bond, she called my grand daughter her little buddy. She was over the moon when her grandson Henry was born. She will be forever missed and loved. RIP Heather, love you and miss you. - Posted by: Mary Ann Chase (Coworker/friend) on: Apr 18, 2020
