JEAN HENRIETTA WABICK
(nee CURLE)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Jean was born the first of nine children on September 15, 1943 in Neepawa, Manitoba. Residing in Selkirk until her passing on April 24, 2020.
Greatly missed by her children, Martin, Michelle (Miles), Stacey (Sherry), and grandchildren, Tyson, Kaitlin, Colton and Brendan. She also leaves to mourn an extended family and many close friends.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Henry, siblings, Robert and Kevin, as well as devoted husband of 50 years, Edmund.
Retiring after a successful career with Selkirk General Hospital as an administrative ward clerk, she enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren, relaxing with friends at the lake and travelling Canada.
Compiling a record of her family tree and sharing these stories and memories was very important to Jean as her way to honour loved ones. Due to current health concerns and the necessity of social distancing, a private family service will take place. If you would like to share your story of Jean, we invite you to visit her Facebook page 'In Loving Remembrance of Jean Wabick' at

https://www.facebook.com/groups/jeanwabickmemorial

The family wishes to thank Selkirk Regional Health Centre and Tudor Home for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering donations to Diabetes Canada.

  • Ed and Jean were customers in our Pharmacy for many yrs. When Ed passed away it was very hard on Jean who leaned on her children for support. I will miss the stories about her family. They were very caring people who would highlight my day. RIP , now you are together again. I will miss you. Wanda. - Posted by: Wanda Kowalik (friend) on: May 02, 2020

  • Jean was my mom’s (Mary Cartlidge) roommate at Tudor House. She welcomed mom quietly and patiently. They quickly became friends, sharing stories about their families and stashing snacks in the locked fridge! My last visit with them, Jean was busy trying to create Christmas crafts. Glitter and tiny plastic cups were being transformed into bells for a mobile. Mom misses Jean. So do I. Our thoughts are with her family. ❤️ - Posted by: Conni Cartlidge (Friend) on: May 01, 2020

  • I was very fortunate to have worked for many years with Jean. She and I became very good friends. Her work ethic was admirable, she always had a sunny outlook on life and no task was insurmountable. We shared many stories of family over the years. She was very proud of her children and always celebrated their achievements. I count myself very lucky to have called her my friend. My warmest condolences go to Martin, Michelle and Stacey. May the many fond memories you have of your times together help you through this sad time. Rest In Peace Jean - Posted by: Beverley Stewart (Friend and Co-worker) on: Apr 30, 2020

  • As a resident of the St. Andrews community, I was fortunate to know the Wabick family. I had the pleasure of teaching a couple of Jean’s children and remember her as being a very supportive parent. Also, our son Chad and Stacey played many sports together and we got to how the family on a more social level as well. I am deeply saddened by Jean’s passing and would like to pass on my most sincere condolences to the entire family. - Posted by: Betty Ducheck (Friends ) on: Apr 29, 2020
