EDWARD GUENTHER
March 19, 1932 - April 27, 2020
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Margaret; sons, Ken and Jeff (Dolores); daughter Carol (Sheldon); seven grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Josh, Travis, Jon, Matthew and Emily; and one great-grandchild, Laila.
He was predeceased by six brothers and one sister.
Eddy grew up in Grunthal, Manitoba where he enjoyed playing on numerous hockey and baseball teams. He was well-known for his defensive prowess on the ice and his fastball from the pitching mound. Eddy's time as a player and a coach earned him the respect of both his teammates and opponents. He owned and operated a hardware store in Grunthal where he earned a reputation for showing integrity and compassion in his business dealings. Time spent working on the town council and sports association revealed his passion for making Grunthal a great place to live, work and play.
He enjoyed woodworking, collecting stamps and travelling with family and friends. Eddy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them pursue their dreams. Edward was very loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Due to current circumstances, a private family service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba. Live viewing of the service can be accessed through the Birchwood website.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Edward may be made to a charity of their choice.
