We always greatly appreciated and respected Al’s leadership in the church, the many classes he taught over the years and honoured his faithfulness and consistency in all he did. I was thinking this morning how Susan had told me, as a young woman, she had a list of characteristics her future husband should have. At the end of the list was he should have “black wavy hair”. So as a young teacher, when she needed and was offered a ride to school, Al showed up to give her a ride, black wavy hair and all. Heart-felt condolences to your families. We will be watching online. I taught @ JP from 1967-1987. He was a good friend. I remember the good time I had being photographer at one of the twin's wedding. I don't remember which one. I'm sure he will be sorely missed . I'm on Facebook quite a bit so would love to hear from his children. Len Penner - Posted by: Leonard Roy Penner (Colleague & friend at John Pritchard School.) on: May 02, 2020

To the family, Allan was a good friend, always willing to help, he was a dedicated Church Board member and a fine Christian man. Him and I always found something to share and he will be missed. - Posted by: Jean-Guy Fillion (Friend ) on: May 02, 2020

Mr. Gurney was my grade 9 home room teacher and I have fond memories of him and the help he gave me. Since my Mom was at Donwood manor for many years as well, I would always go and visit Mr Gurney often since he arrived. We had many nice conversations and as a volunteer, I enjoyed wheeling him to the Sunday church service which I know he enjoyed. Unfortunately I haven't been able to see him due to the Covid-19 virus and I'll miss seeing him when I can start going back. Tim Klassen - Posted by: Tim Klassen (Student) on: May 02, 2020

Sad to read of Alan's passing, and wish to extend My Deepest and most Heartfelt Sympathy to all His Family, and, especially to Elsie, & Dorrie, and Family. I remember back, which seems, and, is a Long,Long time ago, when we all used to get together and have a whole lot of fun. So sorry for your Loss of a "Good Man" Sincerely Janet{Monteith} Jundt - Posted by: Janet Jundt (aquaitance from past) on: May 02, 2020
